Directed by Tom Hooper, Cats is based on a musical of the same name and tells the story of the Jellicle cats during their Jellicle Ball, where the wise Old Deuteronomy chooses which of them will go to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life. The film stars Jennifer Hudson, Idris Elba, Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, James Corden, and more. 

Underwater
Premieres on: January 10

Underwater stars Kristen Stewart, T.J. Miller, Vincen Cassel, and John Gallagher Jr. in  a film about a crew of underwater researchers who's 7 miles into the sea when an earthquake devastates their laboratory. They must then scramble to safety before an awakened creature gets to them.

The Grudge
Launches on: January 15

The reboot of the 2004 horror film remake of the Japanese film, The Grudge follows a single mother and a detective who tries to solve a murder case that had happened in her own house. She then discovers that the house is cursed by a ghost that haunts anyone who lives in it. The film stars Andrea Riseborough, Demian Bichir, John cho, Betty Gilpin, Lin Shaye, and more. 

Bad Boys for Life
Premieres on: January 22

Bad Boys for Life centers on Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett, two cops who go together to take down the leader of the Miami drug cartel. It stars Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Alexander Ludwig, Vanessa Hudgens, and more. 

Just Mercy
Premieres on: January 22 

Just Mercy centers on Michael B. Jordan's Bryan Stevenson, a lawyer who goes to Alabama to defend those are wrongly-condemned or are unable to afford proper representation. Together with the Brie Larson's Eva Ansley, they handle the case of Walter McMillian, who was sentenced to die for the murder of an 18-year old girl, even with the evidence that proves his innocence. 

The Turning
Premieres on: January 24

A supernatural horror film, The Turning is a story set in an estate in Maine, about an appointed nanny named Kate who is tasked to take care of Flora and Miles, two disturbed orphans. While doing so, she discovers that the house and the two children are hiding dark secrets. The film stars Mackenzie Davis, Brooklynn Prince, and Finn Wolfhard. 

Dolittle
Premieres on: January 29

Dolittle is based on Dr. Hugh Lofting's iconic character. It centers on the eccentric veterinarian Dr. John Dolittle who, after losing his wife, becomes a hermit with hsi menagerie of exotic animals. When the young queen becomes ill, he is forced to find the cure to her illness by going on a quest to a mythical island. The film stars Robert Downey Jr. Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, Marion Cotillard, Tom Holland, Ralph Fiennes, Selena Gomez, and more.
